JOB TITLE: Transportation Assistant Supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of five years experience in supervising employees, maintaining of fleet vehicles and office administration.
2. Knowledge of bus routing, safety procedures, traffic laws, equipment, and tools used in transportation and maintenance.
3.Knowledge of general computer operation, spreadsheets, budgeting, bidding, and purchasing.
4. Possession of a Class B Commercial Drivers License with endorsements for passengers, air brakes and school bus or willingness to acquire license.
5. Possession of School Bus Driver Trainer Certification or willingness to acquire certification.
REPORT TO: Transportation Director
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

- Carries out all duties of supervisor in the Director’s or Supervisor’s absence
- Compiles and prepares reports as requested by the Director or Supervisor
- Assists in scheduling of buses and drivers
- Drives school bus when needed as a substitute driver
- Maintains accurate records
- Submits reports required by the transportation director or supervisor in a timely manner
- Participates in training sessions with local and state personnel to keep abreast of safety policies and regulations.
- Displays a loyal commitment to the school system and contributes toward upholding the educational philosophy of the system.
- Duties performed typically in, but not limited to the school system’s bus garage, on buses and/or on bus routes throughout the county.
- Frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting, up to approximately 30 pounds, and occasional lifting of equipment weighing up to approximately 50 pounds may be required.
- Work is typically performed sitting, walking or standing.
- Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; visual acuity is required for office work or driving.
